Well, even though ANN got the title wrong, they are the first place where I read about the anime that was announced at the Tokyo Game Show.  Wikipedia appears to have the same information, although according to them, this won’t be a TV series.  So what then, do you think it will be an OAV?  Perhaps it will not be shown on TV in Japan and be episodes on discs included with volumes of the .hack//Link game, assuming there is more than one volume?  You know, the way the original .hack games did it with Liminality.

And if anyone has checked out this page, which I’m fond of, recently:

Looking at the bottom pics, I can’t help but wonder… when did this series turn into Yugioh?

Tokyopop has licensed the .hack//LINK manga. It was always our intention to cease work the moment that happened, but our current plan is to quickly push out the remaining chapters we have completed translations done for, and then stop. This will take us up to the appearance of…something interesting, which is a good place to leave off in our minds.

Tsukasa has expressed an interest in continuing, so there may be hope for some of you yet, but that will not be affiliated with Aurasuki. At this time, there are no other plans for Aurasuki. Well, we might be up to something, but that’s still such a “maybe” that details aren’t worth mentioning.

We hope that those of you who enjoy the manga will support the series by buying the official release from Tokyopop. (heck…they’ll probably be faster at this than us)

While working on chapter 8, I’ve come to the realization that not all of our readers care about the quality of image rebuilds. I too am guilty of this on some of the manga that I read. I find that my eyes focus more on the text rather than the images. But that is not the case when I’m reading something with good character designs (a subjective thing in my opinion). I rage when I see images butchered and backgrounds over filtered all for the sake of speed releases. While there’s not much I can do about that, I want to give our readers a chance to tell me how they want it done for the Link releases.

As far as I know, not many groups will give this opportunity to their readers. Think about it carefully before voting as this will affect chapter 8 and above.

What kind of image quality do you want for future releases?

  • Currently quality (86%, 78 Votes)
  • Low quality (14%, 13 Votes)

Total Voters: 91

Please note that low quality means you will get faster releases but a lot of images will suffer. This will mainly affect text that are not surrounded by speech bubbles and speech bubbles that are “transparent” and allow background images to show. I will probably do the old Tokyopop route and erase the text but not fill in the spots (by the way, do they still do that?) Rebuilding images might also get affected but I will still put in effort on combining two page spreads.
We will not be doing high quality releases if we do this option
.

Well, we ARE in a recession...

It’s been a long time coming but we finally managed to release .hack//LINK chapter 7 out.  Took us around 5-6 months… just be grateful it didn’t take us 7.  I wish  I could give you good news about Chapter 8 coming out sooner, but I’m, surprisingly, entirely too optimistic about the team’s ability to shift their priorities away from actual work and Guild Wars.  If only they could have the sheer irresponsibility and drive for the trivial I have.  Anyway, big thanks to Tsukasa for joining the team and providing us with the translation… and then making us all look bad by providing a translation of the next two chapters.  Thanks <_<
